The notes in the minor pentatonic scale is 1,flat3,4,6,flat7. Your theory would work in the major scale, Witch is 1234567root.

at the 8:14 mark, …
at the 8:14 mark, he. calls the note the “flat 5″.. why is it called the falt 5? ,, ive never understood this concept.. its the 4th note in the sequence of notes… so wouldnt that make it the flat 4th? .. in his explanation, the 8:40 mark, he refers to the second note as the flat 3rd, when its the second note the sequence..

@kingshearer2 Yes it has helped a lot ….. Many Thanks man!!
@Stehallam1 The …
@Stehallam1 The minor scale has the following sequence TSTTSTT where ‘T’ is a tone and ‘S’ is a semi-tone. So starting on A the next note is a tone away so B (since A# is only a semi tone away from A so another semi-tone gives you B) The next note is a semitone away so from B a semitone would be ‘C’ since there’s no flat or sharp between B and C. I suppose they call it a flat third because the 3rd note of the scale is just a flat or semitone away from the 2nd note. Hope this helps.
